Data Deletion
This page explains how to remove the Decoded Dad applications' access to your accounts and how to ask us to delete the information we hold about you. It applies to data obtained from Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and every other platform connected through the Decoded Dad applications, as well as to newsletter and member information from decodeddad.com.
1. Remove the application's access
Removing access stops us from receiving any further data from your account:
- Facebook: Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites → select "Decoded Dad" → Remove.
- Instagram: Settings → Apps and websites → Active → select "Decoded Dad" → Remove.
- Threads: Settings → Account → Website permissions → select "Decoded Dad" → Remove.
- Google and YouTube: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions → select the Decoded Dad application → Remove access.
- LinkedIn: Settings → Data privacy → Permitted services → remove "Decoded Dad".
- Other platforms: remove "Decoded Dad" from the platform's connected or authorized applications settings, or, for Bluesky, delete the app password you created.
2. Request deletion of your data
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Data deletion request", and include:
- the platform(s) and the account name or username you connected, and/or the email address you subscribed with; and
- whether you want all of your data deleted or only data from specific platforms.
We may ask you to confirm that you control the account before acting on the request, to protect against unauthorized deletion.
3. What happens next
- We will confirm receipt of your request and complete the deletion within seven (7) calendar days of verifying it.
- We delete the authorization credentials for your account, the profile information and engagement data we received from the platform, the scheduling records for content created through the Decoded Dad applications, and, if requested, your newsletter and member information.
- We will reply to confirm the deletion is complete. If any information must be retained to comply with a legal obligation, we will tell you what is retained and why.
Deleting the information we hold does not delete content you published to Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, or any other platform, and does not affect data the platforms themselves store. Manage or delete that content directly on the platform.
