Welcome. Pull up a chair.

Decoded Dad is for the man carrying more than he says. The dad who keeps everyone else running. The husband trying to be better than yesterday. The guy who wonders, somewhere around 40, who he actually is when he’s not fixing something for someone else.

I’m Jeff. I’m an Army EOD veteran, a security engineer, a husband to Katie, and a dad to Chris and Ollie. I grew up with not much, I’ve fought my own head on the bad days, and I’ve learned most of what I know the hard way. I write it down in plain language so you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

What I write about

The Man. Confidence, mental health, purpose, and the midlife questions most of us keep to ourselves. The inner work that holds everything else up. Explore The Man →

The Life. Marriage, fatherhood, money, and starting over. Building a life worth coming home to. Explore The Life →

The Machine. Code, security, and AI in plain language, without fear or jargon, so you can protect the people you love. Explore The Machine →

Where to begin

1. Read the welcome. Welcome to Decoded Dad is the why behind all of this, in a few minutes.

2. Get the longer story. About me covers where I come from, the Army, my family, and why I started writing.

3. Pick a pillar. Start with whichever one is loudest in your life right now: The Man, The Life, or The Machine.

4. Get The Sunday Letter. A new post goes up every week. The Sunday Letter rounds up the whole month once a month, so you never have to keep up.

Get The Sunday Letter

Once a month, on a Sunday, I send one honest letter: every post from the month by pillar, the social threads worth catching up on, and one thing worth your time. It’s free, and you can unsubscribe with one click.

One last thing: the words here are mine. I use AI only as a revision tool, the way you’d use a good editor. What you read is real, and it comes from me.
